FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Saint Michael Lutheran School Will Donate 50% of TOUCH-A-TRUCK Sponsorship Contributions to Local Hurricane Relief

Fort Myers, FL (December 2, 2022) Saint Michael Lutheran School will hold their 5th Annual Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The free family event is open to the public and takes place at the Saint Michael Lutheran School (SMLS) campus, 3595 Broadway, Fort Myers, FL 33901.

Half of all sponsorship proceeds from Touch-a-Truck 2023 will be donated to local hurricane relief charities. The other half of the proceeds benefit the students at Saint Michael.

Saint Michael Principal Kati Miser explains, “Touch-a-Truck 2023 will be especially unique because organizers are focused on showcasing the vehicles and community helpers that are serving as boots on the ground for hurricane rescue, relief, and clean-up. There is much work to be done in our community and many people who need help. God calls us to love and serve one another. For that reason, we will be donating half of all sponsorship dollars from this event to local hurricane relief efforts. Our hope is that through this event, we are able to share God's love and serve our community.”

Meg Minor, Saint Michael Parent Teacher League (PTL) President, adds, “To get the entire school involved and teach generosity, we will ask teachers and students to play a role in selecting which organizations we give to. This event has always been a community favorite, and we hope it brings entertainment and joy to Southwest Florida’s children and families during this challenging time.”

Touch-a-Truck 2023 will transform the Saint Michael campus into a hands-on interactive experience that allows kids to get up close with vehicles of all kinds. This event gives truck-obsessed toddlers and young children a chance to turn their imagination into reality. Kids can honk horns, open doors, climb into the driver’s seat, and learn from community leaders and vehicle operators.

Event attendees can expect construction equipment, fire trucks and police vehicles, bucket trucks, dump trucks, farm equipment, helicopters, mail and delivery trucks, and more.

The first hour of Touch-a-Truck 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., will be a sensory-safe time. During this time, lights, sirens, horns, and other sounds that might disturb young or sensory-sensitive children, are prohibited.

Saint Michael is seeking sponsors, family-friendly vendors, and vehicles to participate in this event. Contact Touch-a-Truck event coordinator Chelsea Clementi at (941) 524-6104 or [email protected].
