When You Feel Spiritually Stuck—Getting Back into God’s Word

There are seasons when reading the Bible feels like breathing—natural, life-giving, and constant.

And then… there are seasons when the Bible gathers dust.

You’re not proud of it. You love Jesus. You want to grow in faith. But lately? You’re just… stuck.
Too tired. Too busy. Too distracted. And maybe even a little spiritually numb.

Can I encourage you today, sweet mama?
You’re not alone—and you’re not a failure.

Sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is whisper, “God, I want to want You again.”

It’s Not About Guilt. It’s About Grace.

If you’ve gone days—or even months—without opening your Bible, guess what? God is not angry with you. He’s not rolling His eyes. He’s not disappointed.

He’s waiting.
With open arms.
With fresh mercy.

The enemy will always use guilt to keep you stuck.
But God uses grace to draw you back.

Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
He doesn’t expect you to sprint back to Him. He just wants you to take one step.

How to Get Back into God’s Word (Without the Pressure)

Here are a few simple, grace-filled ways to reconnect with Scripture—especially for moms in the thick of life:

1. Start Small, But Start

You don’t have to read a whole chapter. Just start with one verse. Read it. Breathe it in. Ask God to speak through it.

Try this: Read Psalm 23 slowly, one line at a time. Pause and pray after each one.

2. Tie Scripture to a Daily Habit

Place your Bible or devotional where you brush your teeth, make coffee, or fold laundry. Let the physical space prompt a spiritual moment.

Try this: Keep a verse card near the kitchen sink. Read it every time you do dishes.

3. Use Audio or Visual Tools

Busy hands don’t mean you can’t engage with the Word. Play Scripture through an app while you drive, walk, or clean.

Try this: Listen to one chapter from the Psalms or Proverbs while on school pickup.

4. Let Your Kids See You in the Word

It doesn’t have to be quiet or perfect. Let them see that you turn to Scripture—even if it’s just for 5 minutes. That’s discipleship in motion.

Try this: Read your Bible while they color or do homework nearby. No guilt for interruptions.

A Note for the Mom Who Feels Distant

If it feels like God is far away, remember—He hasn’t moved.  He’s not hiding. He’s not holding out on you.  Sometimes, spiritual dryness comes not because something is wrong, but because He’s inviting us deeper.  Not to try harder.  But to come closer.  Your faith is not measured by how many chapters you read or how beautiful your quiet time looks. It’s measured by a heart that keeps turning back to Him.  And you’re doing that. Right now.
